Laundry organisation tutorial to make life easier!

If you are like me , your laundry gets washed, dried and shoved in the cupboard never to be seen until you shove the next lot in on top and push really hard hoping that next time you open the door you don't get hit in the head by a heavy queen size sheet!
Today I decided to tackle the laundry cupboard.
This is what it looked like before ( mind you it was only 6 months before that I put all doona covers inside their corresponding pillow slips and hoped for the best, it didn't work )

So the first step was to empty the cupboard in its entirety, right on the floor so it looks kind of like this

I think the poor dogs thought we were moving again!
I went to K-mart and bought some cool white wire baskets and some collapsible storage bag things.

And $8.50 for these

I had a few Ikea storage bins I was using for crafty stuff, But I don't think they stock them anymore.
So the next step was to slowly pick through the rubble and decide to keep or toss, I think I ended up with 6 shopping bags full that are going to the salvos. Then it was just a matter of neatly folding and putting linen into my new boxes. I had some white gift tags so I labelled each bin and waaaala......new pretty laundry ready to make going back to work after 10 years a little easier!

Do it, it's lots of fun and doesn't have to be expensive!

Top Trend Alert...Rattan

When I was little, Mum had a rattan laundry basket with a lid. I wish I had a photo, it was actually quite awesome and when I moved out of home she allowed me to take it with me (I'm guessing because it wasn't actually something she wanted to keep in the house anymore!) So that was about 17 years ago and I sort of wish I still had that rattan basket now!

Rattan has come a long way since that basket too!

Here are my choices of Rattan for the here and now.

The Nito Vanity Large Basket in White Wash is perfect to update your laundry room

Your Interior Style.....Scandinavian...Best Picks

If you love light coloured wood, cozy sheepskins, pastel greys and lots of white, then Scandinavian could be your style. You may go as far as painting your floorboards white, the same as your walls then adding in natural leather and a touch of colour in your accessories, just like in the image below, the pastel pink works perfectly with the soft grey.

See how the pastel shades in the image below work seamlessly with the white floors, walls and ceiling, making the beautiful wooden table the centrepiece.

I could go on forever with this style, it has been popular for years and will propbably remain popular for years to come, however assignments await (this was my procrastination today), but before i go, here a few of my favourite scandinavian pieces

Why Not Read a Book! Get the Ingredients for a Plant Recipe!

Have you ever heard of a plant recipe?
I hadn't until I read the book called 'The Plant Recipe Book'

The idea is you make a living arrangement from plants in some sort of vessel or vase, or anything really can be used to make something amazing.

I couldnt wait so I headed to the Salvation Army and picked up a white casserole type dish thing (I'm sure it has a real name' and a white swan planter.....I know, some of you are probably screaming NOOOOOOO at the thought of a white swan planter, but it's cute, it's vintage and actually I don't really know if I really do love it but it looks cool with my plant recipe!

In the  first dish I added a few cute succulents...best to start with the ones that won't die on you surely!

Then to the swan planter I added some tiny ferns and nerve plant (at least I think that's what it is, the veiny type plant that I used to hate the look of but now I love it!)

And at least my swan planter isnt one of those big plastic ones in the front yard surrounded by gnomes! (no I don't have one but I could be convinced to get a cool gnome.....just one!)

Be In The Know..Top Trend Alert ...Global Decor

Today's trend is Global Decor. By that I mean any decor that comes from somewhere other than your country, think African Art, Fabric throws from Mexico or Turkey or Moroccan Tiles, it's all bang on trend!! Here are my favourite finds!

Layer your rugs by adding this Zemmour Rug, just remember to keep a theme, keeping the colours similar and anything goes, try adding a rug with a different texture.

Image from Kasbah Imports

How about a Tomato Ottoman....yes it actually looks like my favourite fruit!
