Your Interior Style.....Scandinavian...Best Picks

If you love light coloured wood, cozy sheepskins, pastel greys and lots of white, then Scandinavian could be your style. You may go as far as painting your floorboards white, the same as your walls then adding in natural leather and a touch of colour in your accessories, just like in the image below, the pastel pink works perfectly with the soft grey.

See how the pastel shades in the image below work seamlessly with the white floors, walls and ceiling, making the beautiful wooden table the centrepiece.

I could go on forever with this style, it has been popular for years and will propbably remain popular for years to come, however assignments await (this was my procrastination today), but before i go, here a few of my favourite scandinavian pieces

The Rufus Chair from Jardan, how delightful

How about this gorgeous ' Oliver Concrete Table Lamp' from Urban Couture

Also from Urban Couture, The 'Kubus White Bowl'..I'm thinking Ivy or Baby Tears would go perfectly in one of these.

Have you seen Freedom's new range yet, the Ania Wall hanging would add a perfect touch of colour in an all white space, (This could work for a midcentury style as well!)

Why Not Read a Book! Get the Ingredients for a Plant Recipe!

Have you ever heard of a plant recipe?
I hadn't until I read the book called 'The Plant Recipe Book'

The idea is you make a living arrangement from plants in some sort of vessel or vase, or anything really can be used to make something amazing.

I couldnt wait so I headed to the Salvation Army and picked up a white casserole type dish thing (I'm sure it has a real name' and a white swan planter.....I know, some of you are probably screaming NOOOOOOO at the thought of a white swan planter, but it's cute, it's vintage and actually I don't really know if I really do love it but it looks cool with my plant recipe!

In the  first dish I added a few cute succulents...best to start with the ones that won't die on you surely!

Then to the swan planter I added some tiny ferns and nerve plant (at least I think that's what it is, the veiny type plant that I used to hate the look of but now I love it!)

And at least my swan planter isnt one of those big plastic ones in the front yard surrounded by gnomes! (no I don't have one but I could be convinced to get a cool gnome.....just one!)

Thanks for Reading :)

Unique displays and vignettes in your home, anyone can do it!

Do you go to other people's houses and come away in awe at the way they arrange random things and it just seems to work?
I'm going to give you a little insight into arranging your prize posessions to make them pop in just a few steps.

1. Gather all your display items into the one place.

2. Start arranging them into groups, one group might have items with all the same colour, or items in the same category such as candles or art. Maybe you have a couple of things similar but add something of contrast to make it work. For example you might have two vintage black vases that look quite boring but when put together with that crazy green frog ornament your uncle gave you for your birthday (the one you know you can't get rid of)....... well, it works!

Think about adding things of the same texture, or the same colour but in different textures, something shiny with something matt etc etc do you get my drift?

3. Now that you have your groups, you need to think about where you will place them.
Play around with placement, you will know when you have it just right!

4. Lastly don't think you need to display all of your items at once. If you run out of spaces, you can store away the left over groups of objects (in their groups of course) and rotate them in say a months time.
Changing things up will keep your spaces exciting and means you don't have to spend money on new display items unless of course you see something you love and must have it, then you have the fun job of fitting it into another exciting display!

Check out these examples below, all images are from my own displays.

The theme below is of course the colour black, it is repeated in the art, again in the deer, the little boy and the tiny figures.

Or here the little boy is used again. The theme flows with the use of rectangles in the photoframes with the rectangular mirror turned on it's side and the rectangle marble plate.

Here we have the same entryway  with the same chest of drawers . The height of the plant on the left is a contrast to the little plant on the right and the colours from the stack of books are repeated in the art.

Nature can be amazing, here autumn leaves and pods were collected and this was the result!

No need to take yourself too seriously either , this simple spot made for keys tells a bit more of a story.

Sometimes just a simple kokedama plant all by itself can make the biggest impact.

There is no right or wrong way to arange your space, just have fun, play around till it works for you, because after all, it is YOUR space.

Thanks for reading .
